This utility is used for finding files and contents of files.
It searches recusively into the specified directory for the
given filename. You can also specify a filetype you are looking
for. Searching for contents can be case-sensitive or case-
insensitive. This program is most useful when using with an
editor which support throwback.
Using the program:
To open the search dialog click on the FileFind icon on the
iconbar. A window with the following items appears:
Directory: Here you can type the directory name where the search
starts. Alternatively you can drag a directory or
application to the window.
Filename: This is the filename to search for.
Wildcards used are: ? for single characters,
* for multiple characters at end of
filename
Options:
Ignore case: If this radio button is ticked the contents will be
treated as case-insensitive.
Throwback: This radio-button is only available if throwback is
available. You have to start DDE before starting
FileFind to enable this button.
Search for directories:
Directories matching the given the filename will
also be shown.
Filetype: Only files with the given filetype will mach the
search. Filetypes can be specified like FF8, &FF8 or
with their names like Absolute.
Contents: The contents to search for. A ? can be used as a
wildcard for a single character.
Start: Click this button to start the search.
This button will be greyed out if a search is processing.
Stop : While the search is processing this button stops the search.
This button will be greyed out if not search is processing.
Run: The selected found file or application will be run.
If a directory is selected nothing happens.
View: The directory containing the found file or application
will be opened. If a directory is selected the directory will
be opened.
The status line above the search-results pane shows the current
directory. If no search is processing "idle" is shown here.
This is FileFind version 1.02 dated 01 Feb 1995.
I tried to upload it to hensa some time ago but something went wrong.
Because some pepole wrote me asking about a new version I deceided to
try it again. I'm also thinking about continue developing this utility.
